Compressor: Image & PDF
Effective 21 Aug 2026 · Package com.harshanaj.compressor
In plain terms: Compressor processes your photos and PDFs entirely on your device. Files you compress, convert, merge, or split are never uploaded anywhere. The only data leaving your device is what Google's ad SDK collects to show ads, described in full below.
02 Third-party services
Compressor is free to use and supported by ads served through Google AdMob (Google's Mobile Ads SDK). To show ads, Google's SDK may collect and process data such as:
- Advertising ID and other device identifiers
- General device information (model, OS version, language, screen size)
- Approximate location (derived from IP address, not GPS)
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. In the European Economic Area and UK, Compressor uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request your consent before any personalized advertising data is collected, in line with GDPR requirements.
Data handled by the Google Mobile Ads SDK
| Data type | Purpose | Shared with |
| Advertising ID | Ad personalization & measurement | Google / ad network partners |
| Device info | Ad serving & fraud prevention | Google |
| Approximate location | Ad relevance | Google |
03 Permissions we use
- File access — requested per file, per action, through Android's Storage Access Framework. You choose exactly which file or folder to share with the app; we don't get standing access to your storage.
- Notifications — used only to show the progress and completion status of batch compression jobs running in the background.
04 Data storage & retention
Compressor keeps a local history of your past compression jobs (file names, sizes, and timestamps) so you can find results later. This history is stored only in the app's local database on your device — it is never transmitted to us or anyone else.
You can clear this history, and the app's temporary working files, at any time from Settings → Data. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.
05 Children's privacy
Compressor is a general-audience utility app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
06 Your choices
- Ad personalization — manage or reset your consent choice at any time from your device's Google Ads Settings, or opt out of personalized ads at adssettings.google.com.
- Local data — clear compression history and cache from Settings inside the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything.
07 Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of Compressor after a change means you accept the updated policy. We recommend checking back periodically.
